More than once I've been inspired by these beautiful attached farm buildings in Lincolnville, Maine. When I lived in Camden and Rockport, it was one of my favorite places to stop and admire. On a winter afternoon with the sun low in the sky, the pattern of the shadows of bare branches cast across the white clapboard buildings caught my eye. And the sun's glow on the buildings made it seem warmer outside than it really was. The various roof shapes are interesting and everything looks well planned, compact, and functional. It would be a comfort here, knowing you wouldn't have to go outdoors to get to the barn when it's cold or raining. I felt inspired to use the same farmhouse, but from a different perspective, for my summer etching "Coming Home". "Coming Home" can be found in the Spring and Summer gallery.
