John Collette (1941-1997)
In his early twenties John Collette studied music and art at Boston University and sold his painting through galleries while attending university. In summer he would visit Quebec City, where he sketched portraits and created drawings of the quaint streets and buildings in Viex Quebec, which he sold to tourists on Rue du Tresor. John was fond of the old brownstone buildings on Beacon Hill, in Boston, and they provided inspiration for many of his lovely etchings. Other favorite subjects include fishing boats, wildlife, oil rigs, and sailboats. John's artwork is included in many private, corporate, and public collections.

"Sky in Water" is an etching by John Collette; numbered, titled and signed by John.
This line and aquatint etching is hand painted with Winsor & Newton Water Color and printed on Rives BFK a 100% rag paper from France.
John and I enjoyed taking long walks in the country and in wooded areas especially. The inspiration for this etching was at the edge of a pond in the woods near Leominster, MA.
"Sky in Water" and its companion piece, "Clouds in Water" are two of my favorite landscape etchings which John created. I have them hanging in my home and every time I look at them I get a deep sense of calm and a greater appreciation for his wonderful talent.
