I have a sense of awe when I gaze upon these wonderful Colonial homes in Concord, Massachusetts. They have withstood the American Revolution, harsh New England weather and over 200 years of use. The use of brick with a clapboard facade, the ornamental pediment that graces the entryway, the shutters, the double hung windows.....these are all hallmarks of a fine 18th Century American House.
It is very likely that 200 years ago, a young girl looked out of her second floor bedroom window on an October morning such as this and saw the leaves on the trees that had turned from green to gold.
